Join The Credit Union

Opening a Regular Share Savings account with as little as $5 will establish your lifetime membership in the credit union. It’s easy to become a member. There are just three simple steps:

1. Apply.

USA PATRIOT Act Notice:  Important information about procedures for opening a new account: To help the government  fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal Law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, date of birth, address, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your drivers license or other identifying documents.

Fill out a Membership Application. Bring or mail it to one of our branches. Applications can also be emailed to general@aflcioefcu.org.

2. Deposit.

Write a check or money order (payable to AFL-CIO Employees Federal Credit Union) or provide cash (the credit union accepts cash at our New Jersey Ave branch office only) for your initial deposit of $5. Please do not send cash by mail.

3. Show ID.

Please provide a legible copy of a valid unexpired government issued photo identification such as; drivers license, identification card, passport, employer ID. If mailing or emailing, please provide a legible copy of your ID. If the address on the photo ID does not match the address on the New Membership Account Form; please provide a copy of a utility, cable, or phone bill in your name that matches the address on the form you are submitting.
